Need a breather from the hustle and bustle? Pack your picnic blanket and esky, and head out to Peacehaven Botanic Park – it’s just a 15-minute drive north of the Toowoomba CBD.

This breathtaking green space sprawls over 5.3 hectares with plenty of lawn for picnics and panoramic views of Gowrie Junction and the Bunya Mountains. Over 200 species of native flora are showcased in the gardens, plus scores of birds and wildlife call the park home. Kids will love the adventure-themed nature playground, while adults can enjoy the winding walking trails for a serene stroll.

Garden lovers should time their visit to stop by the specialist native plant nursery, which often stocks plants rarely sold elsewhere. The volunteers really know their stuff too! The nursery is open Thursdays (9am-12.30pm) and Saturdays (9am-1pm).
